Housewife stabbed to death in Teknaf for ‘preventing drug use’

A housewife was stabbed to death in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. Her name is Jannat Ara (35). The incident took place at around 9:30 am on Wednesday in Purba Maheshkhalia Para of Kharangkhali in Hoaikyong Union of Teknaf.

Local Union Parishad member Mohammad Alam said that around 9:30 am on Wednesday, Mohammad Ibrahim alias Lutia was preparing to consume drugs at his house. Jannat Ara, the wife of his younger brother Mohammad Ismail, saw this while drying clothes in the yard and told him not to consume drugs as guests would be coming during Eid. Ibrahim got angry and stabbed Jannat repeatedly with a knife. Jannat Ara died of excessive bleeding. Inspector Mozaherul Islam, in-charge of Hoi Kyung Police Outpost, said that the police went to the spot, recovered the body of the deceased housewife and sent it to the morgue of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The accused Ibrahim is absconding after the incident. The police are trying to arrest him.
